Been Waiting Been Knitting

I have not posted anything as I have been waiting to receive a new camera in the mail. It took ever so long( over a week) but now I have it and can get back to the business at hand; blogging. I used my time wisely while I waited and knitted frequently. Hoooray! I am thinking of 2 sweaters I want to do. One plain and one Fair Isle. Plain for me and Fair Isle for my wonderful husband who never gives up on me. Thank you. I'm also working on a hat pattern for a hat I've knit a bunch of times but never wrote down the pattern. So when a complete stranger asked for the pattern I decided it was high time to write it and chart it. After all isn't that what long winters are for? I've also found a fab new knitting group on saturday afternoons at 12 which is great fun and even has free coffee, tea and food! What could be better on a blustery winter day in January? Here is a pair of Fair Isle wristlets I knit in pink and orange. I was inspired by Sasha Obama's outfit at the inauguration of her dad. Very cute!

Frog Tree, Fingerless, Fair Isle

These fingerless gloves are one of my projects at the moment. These are a great example of what happens when I( and maybe some other knitters out there) get an idea, pick some pretty yarn and just start knitting. A plan you say; why would I have a plan ? Who needs a plan ? Pattern? What pattern? Who needs patterns? I'm sure I can figure it out. No problem. Well, in all honesty these did not get me into much trouble and I love doing colorwork. Although ;they are a bold fashion statement, and I mean NOT subtle. Sometimes ;in fashion ,you better be ready with attitude , confidence, fearlessness, beauty(comes from inside) and guts to pull something off. Do these gloves warrant all of this? Probably not, but I bet someone could pull them off on the catwalk. Hey I can dream.

Back Knit

As I am new to blogging but not new to knitting I thought it might be a good thing to post some pics of what I have knit. So here it is. As you can see I love color work and when I need something to not think about I've been doing stripes. It has enough color changes so I don't get bored. I also have the terrible curse of making things up, which usually means my friend Helen has to bail me out in some way. It's lucky shes an expert knitter or I'd have half done knit projects lying around all over the house. Now that you've gotten to know me a little I can post about new projects, new friends,( knitters) new yarn shops ,new yarn(always awesome),new secret knitting clubs(well I guess I can't talk about those)New,New,New, lets start anew. Care to join me? P.S.- I think I'm having a midlife crisis.

The fairest of them all

Ahh knitting Fair Isle is such sweet satisfaction. Never boring, always colorful ,enough cheerfulness to keep my spirit going even on the grayest of days. And these little beauties are almost like instant gratification; so quick and easy to do if you have a stash of lovely shetland yarn you can whip these babies up in no time. How fun it is choosing the colors that suit your mood, inspiration, or whimsy of the day! I want to send a shout out to my friend Mary Jane who showed me the way of Fair Isle oh so many years ago. Thanks for inspiring me.

Ode to an island- Fair Isle is for me, a little island in the sea. Colorful knitting popped up like a weed, so glad; its just what I need.

Lovely Striped Socks

Here is a pair of pink and brown striped socks I created for my beautiful daughter who is on her way to far off exotic lands to learn the rudiments of the fashion industry.

O.K. well shes only going to San Fransisco to fashion school but that is exotic for us,for now, anyway. I heard it gets cold enough for a pair of cozy hand knit wool socks and has been known to cure some home sickness. I will miss you. Begin anywhere.
